Love Fame Tragedy

Monday night shows feel like a bit of a rare gem – something to bring some light to the beginning of a new workweek… and this week’s bright beginning saw “Murph from The Wombats” bring his new project Love Fame Tragedy to Birmingham’s O2 Institute.

Opening the evening were fellow Liverpudlians MiG 15, a band totally dripping in retro electro-synth vibes & indie-pop youngsters Full Colour, both bands with bright futures, capturing a sizeable early-doors crowd.

Rocking up on stage at half nine, the headliners kept up a pace – strolling on stage right into surefire favourites Backflip and Hardcore, closing less than an hour later on similarly popular My Cheating Heart.

If you loved the Wombats, all the familiar elements are there, just arranged in a way that feels different. The tracks are little more laid back, stripped back even… but with a familiar foundation of relatable lyrics and catchy hooks that’ll stick in your mind for days.
